Vodafone Protect & Connect is our new entry level system that provides peace of mind protection with theft tracking on demand, as well as being able to utilise Vodafone Automotive's quality connected car service.

Vodafone Protect & Connect gives you the ability to remotely monitor your vehicle whilst also having the European leader for stolen vehicle tracking services as a backup to recover the vehicle in the unfortunate event of a theft. Vodafone Protect & Connect uses the latest GPS / GPRS /GSM technology, providing pinpoint accuracy and unparalleled service levels. It is installed covertly into your car so thieves have no idea that a tracking system is present.

A connected car experience

With Vodafone Protect & Connect, remote management of your vehicle is now in your hands. Through a dedicated mobile & web application, you have the ability to access and manage a number of safety and security features that Vodafone Protect & Connect offers. The 'My Connected Car' mobile app provides easy access to vehicle information such as; real-time vehicle location, directions to the vehicle and geofence ability. It also provides other safety & security features such as an SOS button linking directly to our secure operating centre.

In 2008 alone, according to the UK Home Secretary, over 15,700 cars were stolen as a result of the keys being taken through burglary. A further 2,900 drivers were robbed to obtain car keys either by mugging, pickpocketing or carjacking. Worrying statistics reflecting the fact that stealing the keys is the easiest way for organised thieves to steal cars to order.

How Vehicle Tracking Works

Vodafone Protect & Connect - Technology that gives you peace of mind (Formerly CobraTrak)

Vodafone Automotive Stolen Vehicle Recovery services are enabled by constant communication between the GPS/GSM tracking system fitted covertly to a vehicle, and Vodafone Automotive's server infrastructure. This provides pinpoint live tracking data regarding a vehicle's position and movement, including speed and direction of travel.

Thanks to the integral roaming SIM card which automatically communicates with the best connected of more than 360 local GSM networks, the combination of GPS and quad band GPRS/GSM technologies enable the constant transmission of position data.

Our systems are low battery drain devices and benefit from an internal battery back-up. They are lightweight, weighing less than 330g, compact, and are housed in robust, heavy duty casing.

Vodafone Automotive Protect & Connect Stolen Vehicle Tracking systems are designed, manufactured and tested by a team of 90 engineers in Vodafone Automotive's state of the art production facility at our Headquarters near to Milan.

They are rigorously tested to meet all OE automotive standards.

Vodafone Protect & Connect 5

Vodafone Protect & Connect 5 is our top of the range system, incorporating all the benefits of the standard Vodafone Protect & Connect 6 system with the added protection of:

  • Automatic Driver Recognition (ADR)

  • Remote Engine Immobilisation

  • The highest level of insurance accreditation available in the UK - Thatcham Category 5

ADR (Automatic Driver Recognition)

The driver card is a discreet pocket-sized card that you carry with you whenever you drive your vehicle. On leaving your vehicle, the system automatically arms itself.

If the vehicle is moved without the driver card present, Vodafone Automotive's Secure Operating Centre is alerted instantly to a potential theft. This means that even if your vehicle is taken using your own keys, the theft is detected immediately.

How does it work?

The system is supplied with 2 unique driver cards.  An authorised driver must have a driver card in their possession when using the vehicle.

  • The system will automatically arm itself 70 seconds after the vehicle ignition has been switched off and the driver card is out of range (approximately 3 metres)

  • The system will automatically disarm itself when the driver card is brought back in range of the vehicle

  • If your vehicle is driven and the driver card has not been detected, a silent alert will be transmitted to the Vodafone Automotive 24 hour Secure Operating Centre, who will contact you to check that a vehicle theft has not taken place

For added security, if the driver card is not present, the system will also generate an alert:

  • when your vehicle is lifted or towerd away without the keys

  • when your vehicle battery is disconnected or discharged

Remote Engine Immobilisation

Remote Engine Immobilisation technology enables Police to authorise Vodafone Automotive to send an alert to the vehicle to prevent the engine being restarted once it comes to a standstill.  This significantly increases the chance of your vehicle being recovered undamaged, and can also help Police to avoid high speed pursuit of suspect vehicles.

Automatic System 'Health Check' - All Vodafone Protect & Connect units perform a regular self-diagnostic check - meaning that any issues in performance can be immediately addressed.

No Police Hardware Required - GPS tracking means the Vodafone Automotive Secure Operating Centre can follow the vehicle and liaise with any patrol car, giving the Police live tracking data, including speed and direction of travel.

Covert Installation - Means that thieves simply cannot identify that a tracking system is present.

System Transfer - In many cases, when you change vehicle, we can simply re-install the system in the new vehicle and transfer the subscription - protecting your initial investment.  A small administration charge applies for this service.
